Sterling's most noticeable flaw is his anger. He has hurt good, innocent people when overcome with rage and feels massive amounts of guilt for it later. He doesn't fight with his words, but always with his fists. Any attempt at controlling it has failed and even the smallest of insults- even if joking- are known to tick him off. Sterling talks big, but his bite is far worse than his bark. The man is awfully stubborn and intends to get his way with everything. If he has a plan, he expects everyone to follow it and refuses to think anyone else's plan might work, at least until his own has failed. Despite being a little slow and oblivious to the meanings behind people's words and actions, he specializes in strategy and prefers to think things through before charging in. Unfortunately, his anger doesn't always give him that chance.
A majority of the time, Sterling is a very serious, confident and determined man who puts his work before playing around. But children always soften him up. He loves playing with kids and would protect them before anyone, even his closest friends. They have a long life ahead of them and he refuses to let that be taken away from them. He always tries to be a good role model around them, smiling, having a good sense of humor and really trying to keep his anger in check. He couldn't live with himself if he ever hurt a child. Emotions are something Ster tries to bottle up. But if he's angry at himself or anyone, it shows. If he wants to cry, he will cry. He will gladly throw himself in front of a charging Rhyhorn to save someone- human or Pokemon- that won't stand much of a chance against the larger Pokemon. But sometimes he does it for fun. He is reckless and a bit dumb, not understanding when something is too much for him. Danger is his best friend and he isn't afraid of dying. Often, Sterling will fight alongside his Pokemon rather than make them do all the battling on their own. He considers it to be a good workout and hates putting such a large burden on one Pokemon's shoulders.
