The tavern was full tonight, it always was, pirates stumbling around all drunk. Normally being in the kitchen Sera didn't have to deal with the drunken idiocy but today the server decided to skip work. Boob-for-brains must have had better things to do on such a wonderful night, Sera, normally the cook was stuck cooking and serving everyone their dishes. It was getting tiresome very quickly, the girl was already starting to wonder why the hell she ever decided to work in the bloody place. Yeah sure she got to cook, she loved cooking, but the crowd was not worth her time.
"Hey girl, cook me something better next time," some brainiac thought it was smart of him to yell in Sera's direction. That was the last straw, she could deal with the butt pinching and sexist comments but tell her that her food didn't taste good? No. That wasn't something she was willing to take, turning with tray in hand Sera stormed her way over to the drunk pirate.
"Didn't like it?" Sera questioned with a particular venom in her voice. "Did I ask you if you liked my cooking?" The drunk snickered a bit as if he were about to say something else she though was smart but instead decided to reach to pinch her butt. This was rediculous, first the insults now trying this. Ha, like she would take this quietly. Taking her serving tray Sera hit the pirate upside the head. Sure the girl didn't look like much but she wasn't going to take crap from some drunk pirate. Lucky for her the man was already swaying pretty well on his own, the hit only helped him fall on his face like he would later in the night anyways.
"Does anyone else have a problem with my fucking cooking!" Sera yelled not really looking for an answer. Turning on her heels the girl stormed back to the kitchen before anyone could answer her. Exile, Sera's pikachu was sitting in the servers window, cheek sparking with anger as he stared down the pirates in the room. "Don't worry about it Ex," Sera groaned going back to work busily stirring food.

Ah. there was nothing quite like a trip to Remy's favorite tavern in the entire world. It was definitely a real treat: a location that simply swarmed with all sorts of variety ranging from the common bilge rat to straight-faced officers who needed a release from the stress of life. Alas, the man was here tonight for one purpose and one purpose only: to secure a crew.
After all, what was a captain without a crew? Could he even be called a captain? What a ridiculous notion; that simply wouldn't do. Hell, maybe he'd grab a bite to eat too because frankly pirates did not have the healthiest of diets and well, Remy was certainly no exception to the usual. With only booze and more booze to consume, he had eventually run out of his staple diet and he instead found himself situated at the tavern with a hearty meal destined for at least three.
Trying to keep a low profile, Remy ate his meal as casually as he could without giving away his disguise. The meal was deliciously crafted; truly, the man could only hope to one day acquire a chef with half as much prowess as the one who happened to craft his food. Leaning back in his chair, he took a sip of the fine red wine as he observed the scene placed before him. The tavern was clearly full tonight with all sorts of funny characters heaped into one location, but the one who caught his eye was a rather saucy wench with dark fiery hair. She was one of the rare females who found herself unfortunately grouped with the rowdiest of men, but Remy kind of appreciated her wild ...spirit, if he could call it that. He appreciated her all the more when she slammed her serving tray against the man's head. A low chuckle couldn't help but part his lips, but he had the wits to keep silent to the girl's rhetorical question.
Instead, he stood up soundlessly and slowly trailed behind her. Maybe he'd just strike up a nice conversation ...pay her a compliment or two, yeah, that's it. As he stepped into the kitchen, the surprise could not be washed off Remy's countenance when he noticed that she was indeed the chef. ...What was the chef doing serving the customers? That was odd. It was only then that he realized that he needed some excuse to step into the kitchen.
"Oh, um. My apologies, I seem to have mistaken this room for the loo. By the way, nice hit. Consider me beyond impressed," he grinned.

Exile nodded in reply to his person before turning around to keep watch over the tavern. Sera was too busy with her cooking to care what was going on out there but it was always good to have a pokemon make sure no one decided to wander in. The girl hadn't even noticed anyone follow behind her until she near electricity sparking and decided to look back to see what was up with her pikachu.
"Oh, um. My apologies, I seem to have mistaken this room for the loo. By the way, nice hit. Consider me beyond impressed," a man's voice came from the door just as she turned to see him enter.
"Piiikaaa..." Exile growled at the man as if telling him to leave before Sera even could.
The redhead waved her hand at the pikachu before turning back to her food. She didn't want deal with another drunk right this moment, "uh yeah thanks, restroom is down that way." Sera waved in the direction out the door and down the hall. Exile took it upon himself to point out the door cheeks still sparking as if to warn the man. "Ex, show the man out of my kitchen," Sera growled moving to the other side of the kitchen to grabbing a ladle and walking back to her pot of soup. Not feeling like serving any more drunks the girl decided to release her kadabra and let the psychic pokemon do it for her. Ladling the soup into a few bowls Sera placed them on a tray and turned to her pokemon, "Hue, table five." The kadabra nodded and lifted the tray with his telekinetic abilities and exited the kitchen.

As soon as he stepped in, of course, Remy was also greeted by a rather threatening Pikachu. ...Cute, but a mere electric mouse wasn't about to take him down. He threw up his hands in mock surrender as if to appease the angry little mouse. "Whoa, easy there. Nice Sparky, nice little electric shocking death-threatening mouse ...thing. Er, down, boy? Right, you're not a Poochyena, uh." Somehow, Remy anticipated a good electric shock in the nearby future. Now that was a curious thought, wasn't it?
The captain simply beamed, "You're welcome. Although, I actually knew where the restroom was, but I just wanted to have a little cha-a-a--" His gaze flickered over to that electric mouse that insisted on getting in his way. He did eye the sparks though; Remy Baudelaire had no intentions of being shocked to death by a mere Pikachu after all. He reckoned he'd have to appeal to her reason instead.
"You don't like it here. I can see that in your face, so ...why are you here when you could have it so much better?" It was a serious question, but he didn't expect a serious answer. In fact, he expected an electric shock and probably a ladle to his pretty face, but well, Remy Baudelaire was called many things in his twenty eight years of living and 'persistent' happened to be one of them.
As an afterthought, he quickly added, "If it helps any, I'm not drunk if that's what you were wondering and I can proudly say that I've never had a meal as fine as the one you made."

Exile being Exile didn't let up on the sparks and insisting on the man leaving the kitch, little sparks growing and looking more violent. No men in the kitchen, that was the rule and he didn't mind making sure of it for his lovely Sera. But the man just wouldn't leave, "pika."
Sera barely listened as the man went on about how he actually knew where the restroom was, she had expected that much, the man didn't look like a complete idiot. Exile was keeping him at bay and he could stand there all night if he really wanted to she just needed to ignore him. Sera left the ladle beside the pot and moved on the the cutting board to finish chopping some veggies.
"You don't like it here. I can see that in your face, so ...why are you here when you could have it so much better?"
Sera rolled her eyes, what a stupid question, he might be more stupid than she thought. Turning to face the man, knife in hand, Sera looked him over. A pretty boy, either a dumb pirate or a rich boy with no idea about the real world. "Some of us have to work for a living," Sera snapped turning back to her cutting board and chopping quickly.
"If it helps any, I'm not drunk if that's what you were wondering and I can proudly say that I've never had a meal as fine as the one you made."
"What better things do you expect me to find?" the girl was annoyed you could tell by how fast she was chopping. "Civilians don't get the luxury of the rich and if we don't want to get thrown in jail we work for what we want." Turning the knife so that the pointed end was down Sera slammed the knife into her cutting block so it stood on it's own. She wanted the cutting block to be the man's head at that moment, if this was an attempt at flirting she wasn't going to have any of it.
Exile wasn't having any of it either, though he had been warned about shocking paying customers by the owner of the tavern he wasn't happy with the man. The pikachu let out a zap near the man's feet as if to scare him off.
Finishing her little rant she realized that he had complimented her food and she calmed herself slightly. "Ex, no zapping customers," Sera sighed absentmindedly. "If you really aren't drunk then why would you wander all the way back here?" the girl cocked her eyebrow, wiping her hands clean on her apron. She recognized the man from earlier, ordered lots of food, table nine. "So, table nine," Sera grumbled. "Was complimenting the chef that important to you?" she was skeptical, most of the men here were only interested in one thing and complimenting about food usually wasn't it.

Remy chose to ignore the angered Pikachu, but he did keep a mental eye on those sparks. He was told that death by electrocution was not exactly pleasant, but then again, what sort of death was?
And the captain himself was also ignored: an action he considered rather fair. Still, the girl's silence did nothing to deter himself from talking for more than one reason; he enjoyed listening to himself talk. "Yes, I couldn't agree more, but you could work somewhere nicer ...somewhere you and your magnificent cooking would be appreciated. ...Somewhere you'd be happy," he offered a truly genuine smile.
With a casual eye, Remy studied the prowess of her cooking. Obviously, the girl must've been handy with a knife and that would be a good skill to have, most certainly. Yes, he would continue to appeal to her reason and he could only pray that she would be convinced. "What if ...you were to gain wealth? And freedom? What if ...I could promise you those things? Would you still cook as wonderfully as you do then?"
There was a small zap that skittered across the floor and landed near his foot, but he was only mildly surprised and simply lifted an eyebrow to question the electric mouse's action. What a feisty little pokemon ... Remy only grinned and stuck out a hand to shake. "The name's Remy Baudelaire." Well, she'd find out his real name sooner or later, right? "And yes, I found the compliment to be necessary because I think I'm madly in love ..." He paused for deliberate effect.
"With your cooking," he winked.

Listening to the man Sera couldn't help but feel a little lost, there was nowhere around here that would want some dirty civilian cooking for them. She had been lucky to land this job, though she was very convinced that it was only because the owner liked to stare at her butt. The girl sighed and threw up one of her hand turned back to her veggies and pushing them onto a plate. "I give up," Sera exclaimed. "Where do you think is so nice and free that I could cook? Hmm?" She wasn't about to go guessing as to what the man was talking about, she knew that this was the best she could get around here.
"Wealth is a fools dream in these times," Sera walked back over to her stove and tossed the veggies into an already oiled and sizzling frying pan. Shaking it around to make the veggies sit evenly on the heat before the girl began to season them. She ignored his introduction not very interested in his name at all, it wasn't like she expected to converse with him again. It wasn't until he answered her question about the compliment that she began to be at all interested in his words. She froze for a moment, feeling slightly awkward by his statement until he ended it fully.
It was impossible for her to stay annoyed and serious now, she snorted and broke into a fit of giggles. The man had a sense of humor that was for sure, she turned to face him again, still giggling. "Well I know my cooking is good but I never imagined that it could steal hearts," the girl calmed herself wiping off her hands again. "Remy was it?" she offered her his hand to shake feeling slightly sorry that she had ignored him the first time. "Sera, Sera Avery." Exile snorted at the man, obviously not appreciating his sense of humor as much as Sera. The girl shot the little electric mouse a look before turning her attention back to Remy.
"So tell me more about this nicer place that you think I could be happy in," to be honest the girl really did hate it here, even if she did love to cook for people. Thinking it over now, if the man had a place she could cook and have people actually appreciate it she would more than willingly ask him to tear her away from this horrid tavern.

Remy only laughed. Hook, line, and sinker! However, the nameless captain did not let the amusement show on his face and simply wore a slight smile. "How do you feel about ...oh, I don't know ...air ships and ...piracy?" His little smile could not help but grow into a coy smirk at the mention of his chosen, but successful profession. Ah, to have a chef on board! It would be as if Heaven was but a step away from his grasp! And not to mention, she was a rather pretty sort of lady. A saucy sort of character, but well, Remy always did admire fiery spirit.
"Ah, ah, ah," he waggled a heavily ringed finger, "You know what they say. If you put your mind to it, you can have the entire world eating at your fingertips." At this moment, his eyes shone with ambition and the grin on his face could not be suppressed. From his pocket, he tossed several gold coins onto the counter to prove his point. "My compliments to the chef," grinned the captain.
Ah, finally a laugh! Still grinning, he hopped onto the counter where he dangled his long legs absent-mindedly. The girl didn't recognize his name? Well, that was funny and slightly insulting, but he'd let it slide. That was perhaps for the best. "You'd be surprised. I'm sure there's many more who are taken with your cooking, but I think they're just too shy to brave your threatening electric mouse over there," he nodded in the unhappy rodent's direction. "Nevertheless," Remy shook her hand: a good, strong shake, before turning the smaller hand over where he pressed his lips against the soft skin, "It is entirely my pleasure to meet you, Miss Sera Avery." His gaze lingered on hers for just an additional moment before finally releasing the hand from his light grasp only to lean in to whisper into her ear.
"By chance, have you heard of the Hour, Miss Avery?"

Sera had a feeling that the man was a pirate but now she was certain, asking her about her feelings on the subject. She wondered if she should be talking to freely about the subject. She pouted a bit glancing out the servers window to make sure no one was listening in, just befriending the lot could get you in a heap of trouble. She had quietly listened to him talk about speak of having the world eat at your finger tips and toss a coin on the counter. Exile quickly scooped up the coins and began banging them on the counter and biting them to make sure they were real, Sera shook her head at the pokemon before turning her attention back to Remy.
She doubed many had good taste around these parts even if Remy though others might like her cooking. Exile did add an approving "pika" when Remy went on about people not being brave enough to face him. When the man took her hand to shake it she returned it the a strong shake, growing up with boys didn't make her a sissy even if she was a tiny frame of a girl. She hadn't expected it at all when the man turned her hand and kissed it, if she were softer of a girl she might have even blushed. Instead she chewed her lip and looked out the servers window again, he really was a strange one.
It felt strange that she hadn't spoke this whole time, normally she had tons to say about everything. When he whispered his question in her ear she decided that she need to learn more about this man. Though she knew to well that this wasn't the place to do it, walls had ears and all that. She nodded in reply and stepped away from the man beginning to untie her apron. Tossing it onto the counter the girl turned to the stove and turned down the gas. She turned back to the man, "we can talk more but not here." She pointed to her ear hoping the pirate would understand then hopping up the girl leaned out the servers window behind the man.
"HEY BOSS I'M TAKING MY BREAK!" she dropped down and Exile jumped onto the girls shoulder. Hue came back into the kitchen and the girl smiled at him before returning the kadabra to his pokeball before returning her full attention back to Remy.
"This way," Sera insisted grabbing the man's hand and towing him out of this kitchen and down the hall toward the cellar. She heard something that sounded like the owner cussing about her taking off but didn't see anyone following them when she looked over her shoulder. She opened the heavy wooden door and flipped a switch as she made her way down the stairs, at least here she knew she could talk safely about pirates without being jumped by undercover guards.

A wry grin tugged at the corner of Remy's lips as he studied the Pikachu biting his offered coins to test their worth. Hm, maybe he was going to be fond of the little electric rodent after all! Distracted by the pokemon, he barely had time to register the fact that the young woman was now untying her apron and he only raised an eyebrow, but he had some sense of what was going on; it simply wasn't safe to converse here. Remy only remained where he was as he nodded his head to show that he understood before following the girl to the window.
Ah, so his predictions had been confirmed The captain was barely able to situate himself before his hand was promptly seized and he was being tugged along through the kitchen, trying to absorb as much information as he could about the location. Obediently, he followed the girl down the stairs and they finally seemed to be stopping since she was flicking a switch on. With that, he leaned against the wall and returned his gaze to meet hers. "For a moment there, I was convinced you were dragging me to this dingy place to harvest my organs," he replied drily, but the ghost of a smile was clear on his visage.
"So, now that we're all safe and sound. I am Captain Remy Baudelaire of the Hour and apparently, you haven't heard of me so consider me vaguely insulted." Remy was barely insulted, of course. After all, the Hour had become nothing more than a myth and he was frankly fond of the idea as a ghost ship. "Nevertheless, I would like to ask you to come aboard onto my ship as the professional chef ...if you would oblige my humble request."

Happy to have the stone walls of the cellar keep the sound from escape to hungry ears Sera felt more at ease. Giggling a bit at Remy's comment the girl shook her head. The idea of the hour had been nothing more than a myth as far as she knew, the girl listened carefully as the man titled himself properly. Captain? Wow, she wasn't sure she actually met a captain before. Sure there were a few men that came in the tavern that were obviously pirates but never a captain. Her mouth dropped open a bit but she closed just as quickly, "you mean you want me to-" The girl was so shocked that the captain of a ship would be so interested in having her join his crew. She felt bad for no recognizing his name before, "I'm sorry it's just-" The girl felt like she was stumbling on her words, she had never had that problem before. "I never thought the hour was a real ship..."
Sera was completely flabbergasted, she had never though in her wildest dreams that the offer for he to become a pirate would come up. In fact most of her life she had tried her best to prevent herself from going anywhere near criminal life. It was so tempting, she had grown so tired of working for what she wanted. And Remy... He had nothing but nice things to say about her food, which she had to admit was a nice change. The girl nodded, "anywhere would be better than here and to be honest you're probably a better boss than the one I have now." Sera snickered at least Remy had a sense of humor, part of her want to give the man a big bug but she held back the urge. It felt like someone was finally helping free her from a prison that had been her civilian life. "So... when do I start?"

Ah, it was nice to hear the girl giggle, wasn't it? It was even more amusing to watch her settling shock by far! What a funny expression! Still, Remy couldn't blame Sera at all. After all, he was only doing his mission of keeping his precious baby a secret from the world. Nevertheless, the captain tried to keep up a deeply insulted face, but the stoic expression gave way to a bark of laughter that could not be contained. "No worries!" He grinned, "The Hour's secretive purposefully, y'know. It's so I don't have any of my fan girls pursuing me constantly with my dashing good looks and all." He only shrugged as if this was common knowledge, but it was obvious that there was definitely more than just mere fan girls pursuing him. He was a captain after all.
Truly, Remy was surprised. He hadn't expected her to agree to his humble request at all. Startled, his eyebrows raised in response and he shot a wide-eyed look towards Sera. "You're really agreeing!?" How ...spectacular! This was wonderful! He'd never have to starve again and he'd always dine fine! Exceptional! Before she could reply, he gathered the girl into a tight hug, still grinning like a mere boy despite his age of twenty eight. "You are truly extraordinary, Miss Sera Avery!"
When would she start? Why, right away, of course! "As soon as you're ready to step into your new life as a pirate, of course! Welcome to the grand life, Miss Sera Avery ..." Remy took one of her hands once more before pressing another kiss to the soft flesh.
"Congratulations, you are now rich and free to do whatever you wish."

The man seemed to be more excited about her joining than she had, she was about to tell him that it wasn't a problem when he pulled her into a great big hug. Sera's eyes went wind and she froze in shock, sure she had thought of giving the man a hug but she didn't expect him to give her one. Going on about how she would start as soon as she was ready to join, she figured that meant right away, the man released her from his embrace and grabbed her hand kissing it again. This time she couldn't help but blush, the hug had broken through her little wall and him kissing her hand just added to her already shocked state. "I- err- uhh," Sera shook her head gathering all the information at once. "Really? Cool!" the girl would have jump forward to hug the man again but she turned to look at her very angry look pikachu.
The creatures cheeks were glowing and sparks were flying everywhere, uh oh. Sera knew all too well how her pokemon could get and from how pissed the mouse looked she knew he was insanely jealous of Remy. No man was suppose to hug his girl.
"Pika." The electric mouse dashed over to the captain, its tail glowing brightly as he swung the iron tail at the man's feet.
"Exile, stop that!" Sera called out to her pokemon who didn't feel the need to listen. "He's giving us a job you ungrateful rodent!" Exile snorted convinced that the man was making moves on his girl.
"Chu," the pikachu glared at the man but listened to his trainer. "Pika pika."
Sera sighed and smiled sheepishly, "umm, sorry about that... He didn't wreck your boots or anything did he?"

For once, Remy was completely oblivious to Sera's flushed expression. His excitement to have a real chef on board simply outweighed everything else in his mind at the moment. Imagine the food! Imagine breakfast, lunch, AND dinner day by day! If this wasn't paradise, Remy wasn't sure what was. And heck, he didn't even care if she was a girl nonetheless! Simply having at least one woman on board wouldn't promise him a life of misfortune, right? "Definitely -- ah!"
The distracted captain barely had the time to dodge the swift iron tail that was aimed for his boots, but despite his swift efforts, he was hit in the process, but it was a very light scratch thankfully. Remy only smiled sheepishly before rubbing the back of his neck as if he was embarrassed, "I think he was just jealous." He stole a look towards the fuming Pikachu and he could only grin. His Hamish, the Kingdra, seemed to have a somewhat similar personality when it came to jealousy. "Sorry about that, Sparky. I got a little carried away with the idea of you and your chef joining me. Don't be too mad at me," he grinned before stepping away and crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall.
As for his boots, Remy could only sigh. "These ...are admittedly my third pair today. My Salvatore, a Ninetales, holds ...a particular grudge against me and you know how Ninetales can be," remarked the captain with an exaggerated roll of his eyes. "But it's alright," he winked, "We're pirates now; we're filthy rich!"

Sera swiftly scooped up her pikachu, she wasn't going to have her pokemon ruin her new job before it even started. "Pika," was all Exile had to say the the man turning his head to the side still obviously angry with the captain.
"Yeah..." Sera sighed. "He doesn't really get along with men." It was true, every time Sera tried to talk to a boy or man the pikachu instantly became angered and usually tried attacking them. It proved useful while she was working in the tavern but it had made it quite difficult for her to get a boyfriend. "His name is Exile by the way, I call him Ex for short." The girl couldn't help but listen when the man brought up his ninetales, she had seen pictures of the beautiful fire pokemon but she had never actually seen one. Hopefully she didn't have to face the wrath of an angry fire pokemon once she was aboard the ship. "Filthy rich?" the girl thought out loud. "I guess that means I can go shopping before I board the shit, huh?" Sera grinned at the man petting her pikachu absentmindedly. "Can I see my kitchen? I will want to get it ready before I start actually cooking for you."
( NOTES guess the thread is pretty much done... )
