It was a shame that Tessa's mother did not approve of pirates. ...Well, most people with proper common sense did not approve of pirates and Tessa was not all that sure if she approved of them either, but ...they were rather exciting, weren't they? What was it like, the life of a pirate? With at least a hundred dozen and a half questions swimming through her mind, the young missus found herself seated at one of her favorite cafes, awaiting a childhood friend.
Admittedly, Tessa had never dared lie to her all-knowing mother until now. Despite the flutters inside her mind, she was still positive that she made the right decision to agree to a meeting with one of her closest, truest friends. Tessa would have traded all the face in the world for a friend as genuine as Sera and that was the truth. It was unfortunate how her family would never understand where the lady's devotions truly sided with, but it was only expected of the so-called noble aristocratic.
Humming a soft melody quietly to herself, she patiently awaited her companion's arrival. She knew it was foolish to simply make her way all the way to the cafe without an escort, but she didn't dare risk her relationship to a pirate being found out. Instead, she was dressed with a heavy cloak that rested itself around her lithe frame with the hood over her head to prevent any attention and she even bore her older cousin's boots for extra disguise. Her visage was totally convincing, wasn't it? ...Okay, maybe not, but the plan was working so far and that was good enough!
She began to scribble a little story on a yellowing scroll of parchment. What would it be like if she was to become a pirate? Hah, imagine that! Theresa Darcy who knew nothing of the world, a pirate! Now that was laughable even to herself. A small chuckle did part her lips as she continued to write on until she fell into a dreaming doze where she imagined she met her friend in a field of flowers and nothing in the world: class, wealth, power, ever even mattered.

Sera was happy that she had finally heard from her childhood friend, it had felt like far too long since they last spoke. The redhead smiled to herself, it wasn't very often she got excited about meeting someone these days. The girl skipped through the market, hopping over crates and taking short cuts. These streets were something she knew well, she remembered playing on them and dragging Tessa on 'adventures'. Oh the aristocrat girl never did really know much about the world, oh gosh what did she even think about Sera having become a pirate? There was so much for the girl to discuss! Sera could feel the young girl inside her bubble to the surface, she didn't need to be her serious self around Tessa it was the most wonderful feeling in the world.
"Sahsah why are you sleeping?" Sera giggled using the pet name she had made for Tessa when they were children. She poked the form of her friend who had seemed to doze off at the table waiting for her to arrive. "And what are you wearing" it seemed like the girl was trying to dress down like she were a pirate herself while Sera had tried to find her nicest shirt and pants so that she wouldn't stick out next to a pretty aristocrat. She snickered to herself shaking her head, "if you fall asleep out here someone might snatch you coins."
Like always Exile wasn't far behind nearly attacking Tessa's head as he jumped on the table to greet the girl. If there were anyone else in the world that Exile loved as much as Sera it was Tessa. "Pika pika," the pikachu agreed with his trainer plopping Tessa's purse on the table as if to prove how oblivious the girl was.

It was the loveliest of dreams. Perhaps, it was a little naive. So naive, that even Tessa knew she was dreaming by now. After all, dancing with her closest friend in a field of flowers was something that only happened in stories ...in her fondest fairy tales, but even so, she was the slightest bit reluctant to stir from her wonderful dream.
As her eyes fluttered open, she was nearly surprised to see her friend hovering just over her shoulder. "Sera!" She couldn't help but grin unabashedly before collecting her friend in a sweeping embrace. "Ah! Asleep? I wasn't asleep, I was just ..." Well, that was a lie. She had been sound asleep in a public cafe of all places, dear God. It was only fortunate that her friend had found her instead of some man with poisoned fangs! "Oh, I'm sorry, Sera! I don't know what came over me! Mother says it's the weather, but you remember how Mother is and ...and ..." She gave up apologizing and only smiled sheepishly: an embarrassed smile, "I'm just so very glad to see you, Sera."
Tessa couldn't help but look down to study what she was wearing as if she had forgotten her own ensemble. What? The young aristocrat looked from her wardrobe to her friend's and if anything, her friend looked smashing! ...While she did not look at all very lady-like. Flushed, she tore off her heavy cloak to reveal a slim-fitting white dress underneath: simple, plain, and it might as well be a night dress. "Admittedly, I was afraid of the possibility of spotting Mother, which is the reason to my silly disguise, but you look wonderful!" She grinned cheerfully when the all too familiar Pikachu greeted her and she greeted the electric pokemon with a kiss to his cheek. "Exile! I missed you too! Tomas will be so glad to see you." In fact, Tomas, her own Raichu, shook inside his pokeball, eager to greet Sera and her electric companion, but Tessa did not dare let the pokemon escape in fear of two old friends accidentally causing a power outage and she again only bore a sheepish smile.
She was earnestly surprised when her friend dropped the pocket of money onto the table with a plop! "Dear me! You've always been so good at that!" Laughing, she pushed the coins towards her friend earnestly. "You keep it. I'd like to see the look on Mother's face when I tell her a pretty pirate 'robbed' me while I was asleep."

The pirate couldn't help but giggle over how her friend stumbled over her silly lie, returning the embrace from her friend Sera smiled. As the girl rambled on about the weather and how her mother was the girl only shook her head, "I know I know, I'm glad to see you too Tessa." She found herself a seat next to where Tessa had dozed off and made herself comfortable. "It has been way too long," Sera sighed. Life had been busy lately and she was sad that she hadn't made more time to see her best friend. Sera listened as the girl explained her disguise and only laughed, though she knew that her friends aristocrat mother was very strict she never understood why the girl was so afraid of her. "Well if you mother spots us I will be sure to put up my best kidnapper face," Sera grinned at the though. "And then I will take a short cut out of here."
Exile happily accepted the kiss on the cheek from the lovely lady, looking very bashful afterward. Sera pat her pikachu on the head before scooping up the money Tessa offered and stuffing it into the pocket of her pants. "Always happy to assist in your grand adventures," Sera smiled. Shaking her head again, she only wished that she could see the look that Tessa's mother gave her as well. "I'm sure she will give you a good scolding for leaving the house." Sera put on her best disapproving mother face and tried her best to hold it before breaking out into a fit of giggles. Oh gosh she had missed Tessa, being around her now only made her wonder how she had managed to go so long with out seeing her. "Oh imagine what she would say if she found out that you were friends with a pirate?" Sera thought about the time when they were young and her mother had caught her and Tessa playing together. Back then she was only a civilian and the woman almost looked like she gave birth to a Miltank.

Beaming happily, Tessa completely agreed. It had been far too long since the friends last met! Why hadn't they met sooner? "It was unbearable without you, Sera!" Her expression was a small frown, but her voice was still light and cheery. "I would've written you a thousand letters, but I'm not sure how to mail a letter to an air ship ...since you're a ..." her voice hushed to a playful whisper, "...a pirate," she giggled. She knew she could always count on Sera to pull her out of danger and from her mother's iron grasp on her life. With bright eyes, she continued to speak, reminiscent of how a child would behave on Christmas day, "Oh, do tell me all the grand adventures you've had! I'm sure they must be extraordinary! Have you met any dashing young men?" It was a joke, but Tessa certainly was curious. And how envious would she be if she had! Even if Tessa herself had met a very peculiar yet handsome man recently ...
She shook her head of the thought of the particular man who had saved her not too long ago and instead, she gave Exile a gentle pat on the head with soft affection. "Oh, don't say that, Sera! Mother's lectures last for at least five hours if I've been particularly good," but Sera's stern expression quickly gave way to a case of laughter and Tessa couldn't help but join in.
After a brief period of calming down and wiping away a tear, the young lady gave a wry reply, "Some thoughts are better left alone, Sera. Do you remember the last time we ended up getting caught?" A brief shudder ran up her spine, but she was still laughing at the memory even if her mother had slapped her cheek for that, but for Sera, Tessa would endure all the pain in the world.

Sera nodded with understanding, obviously it would be difficult to send her letters, it wasn't like the hour was known for staying still very long. "Perhaps Cloud wouldn't mind playing messenger for us," Sera mused referring to her pidgeotto with anger problems. Perhaps Tessa's timid nature would keep the bird from being rude upon delivering letters, Sera doubted it highly. As soon as Tessa started up about the grand adventures that Sera must have gone on the redhead couldn't help but laugh. Honestly she hadn't done much since joining the crew, in fact she hadn't done much more than spend days out on an airship cooking. Sera shook her head, "sadly there hasn't been much adventure, well the ship is amazing but I haven't really done anything out of the normal yet." She wondered if it was because the captain didn't think she was a real pirate or not. "Oh you would love it, I wish I could show you the ship!"
Listening to her friend speak of their last run in with her mother made Sera frown, the woman had smacked her friend across the face, right in front of Sera. They weren't more than nine years old at the time, "well we will just have to make sure that she doesn't find us together again." The pirate shook her head at the thought, she refused to be the reason that Tessa got hurt. She loved the girl like a sister and she hated to see anyone she cared about in pain. "One of these days I will take you on a grand adventure," Sera smiled. "We'll fly away and then your mother won't be able to catch us together." It was just a dream, Sera knew that her friend would be thrown out if the girl every tried to run away. That was the last thing she wanted for her best friend, how would Tessa survive in the dirty streets? One didn't learn how to survive as a poor civilian over night, the skills you need for that were something you were brought up learning.
