They had set off early in the day and it was finally setting near around noon and Callie was sulking. She still hadn't gotten used to living in the rough and the young aristocrat was getting testy. Again. "Aurgh! Qilan! Have you found any honey yet? I had to sell what we had at the last stop and I'm hungry!" Ever the spoiled brat, Callie pouted, long hair falling over her shoulder, as the female Combee buzzed about in an attempt to placate their friend, occasionally starting to droop as the wings went out of sync. Buzzing confidently, the trio of faces grinned at her, sides glistening slightly. At the sight of the faint shine, Callie bounced excitedly; she had gotten lucky and Qilan was generating honey! It wasn't easy for the bee-like Pokèmon to get the energy to generate it, even if she did visit a bazillion plants throughout the day. Sighing, she paused her wakling and reached into the pocket of her pants to pull out a Pokèball. Her most recent addition to her little family. New. Family. Anyway. Tossing the ball up, it opened and a brown fuzzy Pokèmon appeared as the red light faded away. "Sen? Nen? Nentreeh..." The Pokèmon stood up on his tail, waving his stubby little arms eagerly, excited to be out of his Pokèball. Callie wished that she could have put him in a Luxury Ball like everyone else, but... she didn't think about grabbing any before she more or less decided to run away. Sighing wistfully, she grinned at the Scout Pokèmon and picked him up, straightening his Silk Scarf and still amazed that he weighed so little for his size. "Let's see what the day has in store for us today, yeah, Evander? Qilan. Let me know if you hear anyone or anything." [style=width: 175px; border-top: solid 5px #CDAA7D; background: #CDAA7D; letter-spacing: 2px; font-family: georgia; margin-left: 90px] E v a n d e r naive somewhat of a clown [/div] status: fine species sentret gender male level 05 item silk scarf ability keen eye move 1 iron tail move 2 slash move 3 scratch move 4 charm tm 1 ice beam tm 2 attract [/style][/style] {O|O|C} Mod note: Qilan may be out, but I'm wanting to train Evander, the Sentret. Evander is level 5. If you wish to anyway, a double battle would be fine if no one takes this thread. Qilan is 15.

As popular and beautiful as the place was, mostly for the waterfall he'd set out to reach earlier that day, he'd seen no other people on his chosen path. Many Pokemon yes, including one that now rested in a Pokeball as the newest member of his team, one he rolled from one hand to the other as he strode through the moist, fragrant grass with a smile.
It was better this way, maybe. Arthur was enjoying his quiet, and he wasn't sure he'd have managed to pull off a bloodless capture of that curious Absol if others had been sharing this part of the high floating island with him. The empty area also made for good Team bonding space, or perhaps team fighting space if Absol didn't find Kaz as interesting and fun as he'd found Cassy. Nami of course got along with everybody.
"Let's just find that waterfall first though," Arthur murmured down towards the capsule in his hands. "Plenty of water there to dip someone in if tempers are lost." With a grin, he slipped the Pokeball back in that day's travel bag, the one-strap, messenger type that sat on his waist and put everything inside in easy reach. New Pokemon didn't go on his belt, where he risked accidentally calling them out for battle without having Trained them. He'd done that before... it wasn't fun.
Stopping a moment, Arthur tilted his head to the sky and shaded ice blue eyes from the sun. It was a good day, very hot on his skin, but not uncomfortably so with his light clothing, a button up white shirt with tightly rolled sleeves and loose, pocket heavy khaki trousers. There was also a cool mist that kept him from overheating, drifting from the irritating waterfall that remainded hidden from him.
The sound of something nearby that hummed and buzzed brought his head back down, and if he'd been a Pokemon with ears, they'd have pricked. He'd had to chase off a few wild Pokemon before encountering the friendly Absol, but they were generally content to let him pass without trouble. Bugs though... he'd swear they knew exactly how much he hated them and were offended.
A hand drifted down to his usable Pokemon, wrist bumbing the sword he carried everywhere he went. His belt leather had actually begun to sink beneath the hilt's constant presence. With a frown, he began to follow the sound of the buzz. Pokemon were always a good choice to follow around if one was lost and looking for water. All the native island Bugs would know where the river was. Sighing, he straightened his shirt, ensured his sleeves wouldn't fall if he had to suddenly draw his sword to block a twin needle attack from a Beedrill. He'd done it before. Bloody insects.
He did eventually find the source of the noise a few minutes later, a Combee, and was grateful he was no longer of the 'flame first, don't bother asking questions' state of mind. It was owned. There was a woman there, straightening some sort of fashion accessory around the next of a fluffy tailed Sentret. Probably not a battler then, treating it like a pet as she was. Arthur tilted his head and observed in silence for a few seconds, then shrugged at himself and raised a hand in greeting. "Hi miss! I don't suppose you've seen any water around here? Big waterfall... you can't miss it." Well... he could.[/style] |

Qilan was happily buzzing around, looking at the plants and pollinating as well as the oversized bees could, as their friend was happily tending to the youngest member of their family. Hearing a rustle, the trio wobbily turned around, listening and looking for whatever it was. When nothing appeared, the female group moved back toward their human protectively, paying rapt attention to their surroundings. Suddenly, she did hear something! But she was, uh, a little behind. Flustered, they attempted to make up for it by flying very awkwardly and haltingly up to the human that appeared and buzzing angrily at him. "Bee! Beee!! Combeebee! Beebee!" "Hi miss!" Callie looked up in fear and confusion, Qilan hadn't noticed anyone come up and so the young runaway aristocrat felt exposed. "I don't suppose you've seen any water around here? Big waterfall... you can't miss it." Then suddenly Qilan was all over the stranger, causing Callie's distress to increase. Frozen for a moment, the blond stared as the female combee trio screeched angrily at him, then she realized that Qilan could be in danger! And if she weren't, she could well attack this stranger!! "Ah! Kee-Qilan! Stop! Come back to me!" Bouncing nervously with her Sentret in her arms, Callie squeaked and squeezed her youngest party member to the point it was squeaking in protest. "Sen! Senen! Nenentret!" Flustered, she set her baby on the ground and, in curiosity, he immediately sat back on his tail to better see this strange other thing. Drawing upon, and immediately hiding behind, her Aristocrat Voice to command her foot-tall Tiny Bee Pokèmon back to her. "Qilan. I am talking to you. Do not ignore me." The voice in question was full of confidence and commanded attention, obviously the voice of someone who did not take no for an answer without punishment being mete. Her posture even changed when she used that voice. Callie went from being relaxed to standing fully straight, gaining at least two inches, to stand at roughly a bit over the oh-so impressive five feet, her sweet demeanor evaporating and a look of mild suspicion slid over her features - a look not too far from what she normally wore around people she did not know. The dotted Combee slunk back to her friend in embarrassment and shame for not noticing the human earlier, buzzing apologetically. "I've not seen it yet. I would suspect that we can't be too far from it at any rate... The air here has gotten a bit more humid," she pointed out. Grabbing Evander's paw before he decided to take off toward the stranger, Callie threw Qilan an annoyed look but still spoke kindly to the female Tiny Bee, "I know you were merely concerned, but do not react like that ever. Again. Okay?" Reacting to the tone of her voice, the trio wobbled a bit lower to the ground in shame and wobbled in a way similar to nodding. "Good. Now..," Callie turned her attention to the bewildered human male and dusted her kahki pants off, "might I have your name, who-managed-to-sneak-upon-my-future-Vespiquen?" [style=width: 175px; border-top: solid 5px #CDAA7D; background: #CDAA7D; letter-spacing: 2px; font-family: georgia; margin-left: 100px] E v a n d e r naive somewhat of a clown [/div] status: fine species sentret gender male level 05 item silk scarf ability keen eye move 1 iron tail move 2 slash move 3 scratch move 4 charm tm 1 ice beam tm 2 attract [/style][/style] {O|O|C} Unless I edit the info card, Evander will be the only one out of Callie's in a wild battle. {/O|O|C}

NOTES My chosen Pokemon for battle will be one of Art's Starters. NOT ABSOL. Not. Kill. Do not kill. Do NOT kill. This thought was the primary that the forefront of Arthur's mind, springing forth when his friendly call to the woman resulted in an angry, over-protective Combee confronting him and preventing him from moving closer. Now it was all he could do to keep his hand from his sword, to hell with releasing one of his Pokemon for an actual battle. He could never be mistaken for one who feared Bugs in general. No, only the spider looking ones deserved his genuine, pulse-pounding, heart clenching, response, and he kept that quirk a closely guarded secret. The rest of them were annoyances, who deserved nothing less than a good squashing, in his opinion. And that damn Combee was proving no aception to the rule. But... Killing it would be a bad impression. Stay cool.
Teeth grit to keep his smile up in the face of the honey scented Combee that was practically up his nose, Arthur stared it down coldly, right in one of its six pairs of eyes. He could only relax and begin to subtle removal of his hand from the hilt of his blade when the woman finally managed to call it away. It was... interesting, and he actually found himself staring in amusement, one eyebrow cocked and a smirk working its way across his face. She went from flustered newbie Trainer to something- else, in a split second.
He offered a grateful nod when she replied to the question he'd handed her after his greeting, but that wasn't all it was for. "Thank you for that," He nodded at the now calmed Combee. "My name?" He briefly considered handing out one of several false identities he'd used in the past, but really, what were the chances of running into this girl again on any of the islands. "Arthur Wilde," He pressed a hand to his chest and offered a slight bow, going for the gentlemanly approach. It certainly seemed to be the least threating he could manage for a woman he ran into out there in the wilderness.
"I didn't mean to sneak. I assumed the Bug I had heard was wild, and was hoping to follow it to the Falls." Ice blue eyes flicked up to the yellow, six legged future Queen of a Hive. That made it even worse. "Don't be too harsh on her. Bugs never seem to like me." He shrugged helplessly and turned on the charm again with a smile that flashed his pearly whites, "And your name is, miss?"[/style] |

Callie had noticed his hand on the weapon when he went to move it away, but could not blame him in the least for his reaction - she would have done just the same, if not already had the blade drawn. Really, Callie had to give him brownie points for the control he displayed in not attacking her friend, but the expression on his face she would definitely ignore and not acknowledge as it would be beneath her to do so. As he thanked her for her answer and then introduced himself after a brief moment of hesitation, and, a bow! Callie added another brownie point as an impressed smile danced about her face. "I didn't mean to sneak, I assumed the Bug I heard was wild, and I was hoping to follow it to the Falls," he explained, glancing to the hovering Combee keeping an eye on him. "Don't be too harsh on her. Bugs never seem to like me..." He shrugged helplessly, then grinned, "And your name is, miss?" The blond couldn't help but smile, inwardly chuckling at his display of charm. "I mean the sneak remark in jest," the Aristocrat tossing Qilan a small smile, "she takes "guard duty" seriously. If anyone gets past her attentions, she becomes very flustered and tends to... overreact." She made air quotes around 'guard duty' with one hand, the other firmly attached to a quietly-whining Sentret. The young Scout Pokèmon was getting bored. He really, really wanted to visit this new person. He hadn't seen anyone new since this strange human lady took him from the place with his friends. He missed his friends... Head tilting, he looked at the other human that the nice buzzing Pokèmon had confronted, demanding angrily to know who it was until the female trio were forced away by their human's command. Idly he wondered why the human was so angry, after all Qilan had only wanted to know who this stranger was... Free paw going up to his mouth, he looked adorably around, using Charm without realizing it, whining quietly, wishing he could wander around. Hearing the whine, Callie looked down to Evander and almost melted. He had one of the most adorable looks she had ever seen on him, "Tsk, ohh~. Fine. Fine." The young aristocrat let go of his paw and told Qilan to not let him out of her sight and that she'd send Blaire if there were any problems. She turned her attention back to... Arthur? and smiled apologetically, "Sorry. He's really young still yet. Always wanting to get into things." Inclining her head, she introduced herself, "I am Callie Blake. Known as the 'fancy-pants bug connoisseur' by my sisters, not that I know that huge amount about them." She hesitated slightly before she said her last name, a split-second wonder about her middle names, but she ultimately decided against it; she would reveal that information to someone who needed to know it. The human let him go! Whoo! He could play now! Noticing Qilan buzzing closer to him after the human said some things he didn't quite understand, he got off of his tail and began to chase them around; a game they normally played. And one he greatly enjoyed as evidenced by his great enthusiasm in attempting to catch them even as they flew high, although a bit wobbly. Maybe he would catch them today! That would be awesome! Callie couldn't help but grin at the Scout Pokèmon as he excitedly chased her future Vespiquen. She was very proud of her Pokèfamily and would fight tooth-and-nail to protect them even if they had amazing powers themselves. Idly, she wondered if he would catch the Tiny Bee this time or not - he seemed to be a bit... no. He wasn't quite any faster this time around; Qilan was only a bit slower as they seemed to be distracted. For a moment, Callie wondered why, then quickly realized that the reason for their additional wobbliness was the strange man that appeared from the brush. Giving him a look over, inspecting him a bit more closely, she noticed he seemed to be kind of.. cute. Turning her attention to Qilan and Evander, she called to them and motioned for Qilan to follow her, as Evander wasn't quite as well-mannered yet. "I'm going to go find water if you would like to follow us as you seemed to be looking for the waterfall," she said shortly, and turned around and wandered further into the trees. She knew that there had to be water nearby as she did truly feel more humidity the further they wandered into the woods. And soon she did hear water, but it was a small pond that they found, possibly run-off from the waterfall itself. Calling firmly to the playing pair, the young Aristocrat managed to get Evander to wander over to her excitedly as she stood close to the water. She figured it would be about time for him to be acquainted with the strange substance, though she had no plans of just throwing him into the water. Seriously? She could say that with a straight face, as if it was something to be proud of? Oh by Arcues, Arthur realized he'd somehow managed to run into his potential arch-nemesis, right in the middle of nowhere. A lover of everything he did not. She was a sweet girl and all at the first glance, but... she liked bugs. Turn-off, oh yes it was. What kind of girl liked Bug-types? Maybe she was insane in some way that had yet to be revealed. He'd have to keep an eye open for any exhibitions of bughouse tendencies.
Resisting the urge to slap his hand to his face with a sigh, he instead forced a neutral smile upon his face and nodded. "Well it's nice to meet you Miss Callie Blake," Freak that you may be. His mouth corners twitched upward at his own thoughts. Maybe he was being a little mean. Ignore the Bug. Focus on the girl. "And trust me, I've a couple of overreacting Pokemon of my own." Such as Nami, who insisted on slapping against his chest in a 'hug' the moment he released her, sparking with electricty from head to tail in her excitement. IT HURT!
For a moment, his gaze was drawn away from the girl to her Sentret, as it attempted to catch the Combee. He was rooting for it. Too bad it didn't look really vicious. Unlikely to rip the honey gatherer apart should he succeed. Ice blue eyes snapped back to her's with hint of guilt in them as the girl spoke again, and Arthur nodded emphatically, "Definitely. My search wasn't really... directed. I was kind of lost actually." Not that he was complaining. If he hadn't been a little aimless in his wanderings- as he generally was in all areas of his life to be honest- he'd never have met Absol. Reflexively he patted his bag, where the Absol's capsule sat snug above a change of clothing. He was always paranoid about new Pokemon like that. "If you don't mind a stranger tagging along... lead the way, Fancy-Pants."
It wasn't the actual waterfall that Arthur was led to, studiously keeping his focus on the trees and moisture floating through the air, occasionally glimmering as the rays of sunlight caught them just right. "Well it's lacking something in 'majesty', but it does appear we're getting closer." And the irritating cling of moisture to his skin, not quite cold, not quite hot, was becoming a problem. A scrub of actual, cool, water over his arms and face would be good right about then. Taking a slow breath in, Arthur moved past the girl- and around her Combee- toward the pond, so he could look in at his own reflection. "Looks clean enough," He offered her and the Sentret a smile and began to kneel, hands forming a cup.
A loud splash somewhere nearby gave him pause, and he swept his eyes out, around the edge of the pond. Was that a brighter flash of blue over there? His eyes narrowed, trying to see through the foliage in his way, but when a pinkish creature wandered out of the water he found himself distracted again. "Hey," He laughed, still knelt by the water side. He quirked a brow up at Callie, "We've got company." The Vagabond tilted his head for a better look at the unfamiliar Pokemon that bumped Callie, "Seems friendly though."[/style] |
